Flower Tattoos

Flower tattoos are, for the most part, a development of the past few decades, and testimony to the fact that it is now entirely acceptable for a woman to get a tattoo (or even multiple tattoos). Flower tattoos are almost always pretty and rather feminine looking, but all the same there is considerable variety with regard to the style and overall look of the tattoo. Flower tattoos can be tribal for example or they can be Hawaiian (which is the only type of flower tattoo that can be appropriate for a man’s tattoos, as well); they can be small and delicate or they can be bold, colorful and eclectic.

A Floral tattoo is often a good first tattoo for a young woman who wants something fairly subtle. Daisy tattoos, on the ankle or shoulder, are pretty and delicate. They are very much in keeping with a feminine, ladylike appearance, but daisy or rose tattoos can also have a bit of an edge to them. In particular, many old school tattoos incorporate a rose image, and even on their own, rose tattoos can have some of that old school look. This is a nice contrast to the prettiness of the image itself.

Sunflower tattoo designs can be particularly striking. Just as the sunflower itself is bolder and more impactful than most other flowers, due to its size and color, a sunflower tattoo is generally bigger and bolder than most other flower tattoos. More often than not it is done in color and sometimes there is a contrasting color surrounding the flower itself.

Tropical flower tattoos, as mentioned before, can be part of a Hawaiian band or isolated image that is appropriate for both men and women. Hawaiian arm and leg tattoos were very popular for a long time, and are making a bit of a comeback currently. A tropical flower may be seen on its own, but more often it is part of an integrated design or pattern.

Flower tattoos are an attractive alternative for women who want a discreet and feminine tattoo. More versatile than you might think, flower tattoos can convey a variety of looks, images and styles, from old school to tribal. Flower images are timeless and very attractive, and because they can be quite small, they can work in a variety of places.
